Sightseeing Tours

Amicus Hospitality Services goes beyond the traditional Philadelphia tour to make each sightseeing excursion a unique experience that is perfect for incentive travel. We can customize the tours for a half or full day or even combine themes to match the interests of your group.

Tour to the Music: Philadelphia music dominated the airwaves in the 1970s with the songs of Gamble and Huff and the artists of Philadelphia International Records. Trace the story of this famed music duo, authors of such hits as "Love Train," "The Backstabbers," "Me and Mrs. Jones" and "When Will I See You Again?" Relive the Philly sound with a visit to their recording studio - unchanged from the days of the train of hits.

Philadelphia's Renaissance Man: Capture the tradition and heritage of Philadelphia by following in the footsteps of its most famous citizen, Benjamin Franklin. Explore Independence National Historical Park, home to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence and Constitution were written. Stroll along the cobblestone streets in Ben's neighborhood. Go behind the scenes at the Franklin Institute, the only national memorial (to Ben himself) outside of Washington, D.C., where you can see and touch some of Franklin's memorabilia. And, it's even possible to join Ben for either lunch or cocktails as he tells the tale of the founding of our nation.

Philadelphia - A Museum Masterpiece: Philadelphia boasts some of the greatest museums in the country, and in fact, has more Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works than any city in the world - other than Paris. The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Barnes Foundation (which boasts more than 180 Renoir works, plus an enviable collection of Matisse paintings), the Rodin Museum and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts are stars of Philadelphia's cultural canvas. To make the experience complete, add a lecture at the Barnes or an art class in drawing, painting or sculpture to the tour.

Picture Philadelphia: Explore the grand vistas, the quaint neighborhoods, the Italian and Reading Terminal markets and America's most important historical monuments through the lens of a camera. Our noted photographer acts as tour guide and instructor as our guests capture their memories on film or in megabytes.

Philly in the Movies: "Yo, Adrian? Seen any ghosts?" The varied neighborhoods of Philadelphia have provided the backdrop for dozens of movies. Follow "Rocky's" run from the famed Italian Market to the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, seek out the ghosts from M. Night Shamalyn's "Sixth Sense," check out locations from "Trading Places" that starred Dan Ackroyd and Eddie Murphy and explore the streets of "Philadelphia." We have a few surprises in store along the way.

Explore Multicultural/Religious Philadelphia: From the Underground Railroad and the history of the Civil Rights Movement to the city's diverse neighborhoods, you can discover the African-American, Hispanic and Asian influences throughout the city. There also are numerous historic churches and shrines throughout the area that provide a peak into the City of Brotherly Love's religious heritage. We customize the tours to the interests of the group.

Taste of Philadelphia: Philadelphia is known for its outstanding restaurants, markets and its own brand of local treats, like cheesesteaks, soft pretzels, water ice and Tastykakes. Experience the Italian Market, sample the Amish fare at the Reading Terminal Market, and take a stroll through Chinatown. Then join a Philadelphia chef in his kitchen for a cooking demonstration.

Biking Through the Park: For the active group, there's nothing like the great outdoors in the heart of the city. Fairmount Park, the world's largest landscaped city park, is dotted with historic homes, sculptures, a Japanese House and Garden and Horticultural Center - all along the tree-lined Schuylkill River. We provide the bikes; you provide the pedal power. The tour can be combined with a picnic at a picturesque stop along the route.

Philadelphia's Outdoor Gallery: With hundreds of murals, grand architecture from four centuries and dozens of sculptures, Philadelphia is a treasure trove of outdoor art. The tour weaves its way through the historic district to the grand boulevard of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway to many residential neighborhoods - where public art is discovered around every corner. For an added dimension, you can pick up a brush and paint with one of the mural artists. You also can enjoy the tour at twilight, with champagne and hors d'oeuvres.

Blooming Philadelphia: The region is home to dozens of renowned gardens and arboreta, appealing to professional and amateur horticulturists. From the famed Longwood Gardens to the Morris Arboretum, the state's official garden, to the tiny gardens in Society Hill, William Penn's "Greene Countrie Towne" excites the senses. A behind-the-scenes tour or seminar adds a special touch to the tour. The tour can also include visits to historical or architecturally significant houses.

The evening also features traditional Colonial American music and crafts demonstrations that bring to life the era in which Philadelphia was the first capital of the United States.

Gastronomic Extravaganzas: Savor unparalleled culinary experiences, from a progressive dinner to an unforgettable upscale pub crawl at some of the most delectable restaurants in Philadelphia.
